Ty DeLorean says his cars attract people looking to conquer the Afghan landscape.
Ty DeLorean’s story is a strange one. We first heard his name when we learned that a man claiming to be John DeLorean’s long-lost son, although we can’t confirm this anywhere, is being sued for trademark infringement by a Texas company that owns the rights to the DeLorean Motor brand Company. Now he claims that the three-wheeled fake cars that resemble the time machine cars are being eyed by none other than the Taliban.

Ty is accused of passing off his three-wheeled prototypes as legitimate DeLorean vehicles. He claims that film companies, car manufacturers and the Taliban have all contacted him to get their hands on the cars in question. Ty said he received an email from the barbaric militant group expressing interest and praise for his achievements.
“They sent me an email saying they wanted to invest in my cars and mass produce them,” Ty explained. “They want to use them on government officials and they said the head of the Taliban, Hibatullah Akhundzada, signed it and now I have to deal with his deputy and the Minister of Transport.”
The Afghan Minister of Transport, Qudratullah Zaki, apparently told Ty: “The Civil Aviation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan extends its compliments to you and your brilliant motor vehicle at Delorean motor company.
“Your amazing achievements were brought to my attention in your latest media interviews which traveled around the world and landed on my desk in a local newspaper.
“The LTA is keen to move forward with investments in your business as we have strong links with rural markets and we believe India is already interested in your product.”
The email states that Ty’s cars would be ideal for the roads of Afghanistan. To which Ty thinks: “In my ambition, which is sometimes greater than reality, I would like to see the vehicle as a symbol of peace, like my father’s was. It could be used to negotiate with the Taliban and help them drop some of their hardline positions, and if they did that, maybe I could do that.”
among other things, the three-wheeled DeLorean knock-off could become the new Hilux with the Taliban, interesting.
