While not the most critically acclaimed holiday update (explained here by NotATeslaApp), a leak of Tesla update 2024.44 had drivers speculating about what awaited them under the proverbial tree.
NotATeslaApp shared a sneak peek of the upcoming update, with some caveats. The new features were for a 2024 Model 3 in Europe, have been translated into English and have not yet been tested by employees.
With that in mind, there may be some differences depending on the region, the model, and how the testing goes.
The first major component was cold weather improvements, including a more effective Supercharger and improved automatic windshield demisting. NotATeslaApp stated that the improvement in Supercharging would be achieved by prioritizing battery pre-heating.
The next key feature, according to Teslarati, was increasing access to towing-friendly Supercharger locations. Drivers in tow mode can now see on a map whether a location has charging points where they do not have to remove their trailer to recharge.
The last major feature was an optional blind spot warning when parking. When Tesla cameras detect cars, pedestrians, cyclists or whatever, the car will give you a visual warning light and an audible warning and won’t open the door if you ask for it first. Passengers and drivers can override the system by attempting to open the door a second time.

One of Tesla’s biggest selling points is their willingness to try new things. This can be seen in previous updates, such as high-tech adaptive headlight functions, or in innovative tests to make the industry-leading Supercharger network even faster for drivers.
For drivers considering the switch to an electric car, Tesla already offers great fuel savings and industry-leading low maintenance costs. Every electric car also reduces the individual contribution to global warming, while reducing our collective dependence on polluting energy.
Commenters on Reddit were intrigued by some of the 2024.44 updates, but are already looking forward to the bigger things a holiday update has in store.
If you were to buy an electric car, which of these factors would be most important to you?
Good driving range
Affordable sticker price
High-tech safety features
Cheap maintenance costs
